SELF-CONTAINED
OPEN-CIRCUIT COMPRESSED AIR BREATHING APPARATUS APS/3 TYPE
APPLICATION
Self-contained open-circuit compressed air breathing apparatus APS/3
type is a respiratory protective device designed for work protection
purposes, rescue operations, fire fighting work, used to guide endangered
persons to safety from dangerous environments as well as used on the
ships. The apparatus is also for industrial applications. Breathing
apparatus enables user to breathe in case of oxygen deficiency and in
the presence of harmful substances at the optional concentration of
ambient atmosphere unless aggressive chemicals affect destructively
the unit or disturb its satisfactory operation. Breathing apparatus
does not protect the user against poisoning through the skin. When an
accident happens and there is danger of poisonous and aggresive media
such as toxic industrial agents (TSP), toxic warfare agents (BST), radioactive
substances and biological agents in all possible forms as solids, liquids,
aerosols and vapours, which could affect destructively the device and
disturb its operation as well as poison the user through the skin, breathing
apparatus should be worn together with protective gas tight suits and
protective gloves.

There are
14 versions of self-contained open-circuit compressed air breathing
apparatus APS/3 type. The spcified types are marked as follows:
– APS/3S type as standard version, is fitted with full face mask with
panoramic visor allowing tight face fitness and with lightweight plastic
demand valve as standard version with thread connector Rd 40 x 1/7".
This apparatus is characterised by the feature, that depending on the
phase of breathing cycle, a negative pressure is maintained in the mask
during inhalation, and a positive pressure - during exhalation.
– APS/3N type as positive pressure version, is fitted with full face
mask with panoramic visor and with lightweight, plastic demand valve
as positive pressure version with thread connector M 45x3 or quick-release
joint. This apparatus is characterised by the feature, that independently
of the phase of breathing cycle (inhalation and exhalation), a positive
pressure is always maintained in the mask, preventing the user from
getting poisoned by polluted air from the ambient atmosphere. In consideration
of specific heavy-duty operations in environments with high degree of
contamination of hazardous chemicals, the version can also be fitted
with gastight protective suits made by domestic firm in Grudzi±dz, as
well as Auer and Trelleborg firm - depending on the order, the apparatus
can be equipped with T-connector and clothing ventilation tube.
– APS/3S - 800/P type as negative pressure version, ATLAS belt-wearable,
designed for industry.
– APS/3S - 800/S type as standard version, fitted with full face
mask with panoramic visor, allowing tight face fitness and with lightweight
plastic demand valve as standard version with thread connector Rd 40x1/7",
the apparatus is designed for fire brigades and worn on the fireman's
belt on the side.
– APS/3N - 800/P type as positive pressure version, ATLAS belt-wearable,
designed for industry.
– APS/3N - 800/S type, designed for fire brigades, worn on the
fireman's belt on the side.
– 3SP-F or ELITE-PF as positive version, fitted with full face mask
with panoramic visor, with thread connector M 45x3.
– 3SP-S or ULTRA ELITE-PS with quick - release joint and suitable positive
pressure demand valve LA96-AE type (thread M 45x3) or LA96-AS type (quick
- release joint).
